The Minerva FFA held its annual banquet, on April, 26, at Minerva High School.
The banquet was catered by Classic 57 in the high school cafeteria.There were many awards, raffle baskets, and gift cards raffled off.
Forty-seven members of the FFA received their Green Hand award, 18 members of the FFA received their Chapter award. Mckayla Williams-Geer received the Star Green Hand award, Williams-Geer also recited the FFA creed. Ida Eglie received the Star Chapter Award.
Enrique Gonzales received the Outstanding Junior Award. Bryce Fankhouser received the DeKalb Award.
The Minerva FFA members welcomed and congratulated the Honorary Members Heidi Soles, and Reggie Stoltzfus.
The Minerva FFA 2017-2018 officers will be President- Ida Eglie, Vice President- Alona Matthews, Secretary-
Ryan Lehigh, Treasurer- Autumn Whiteleather, Reporter- Olivia Kamph, Sential- Kirsten Zwick,
Student Adviser- Enrique Gonzales, and Chaplin- Hunter Baker.
The Minerva FFA would like to give out a huge thank you to Loudon Motors, Napa Auto Parts, Lehigh concrete, Lowmiller Farms, Whiteleather Farms, Zwick Family Farms, Paris and Washington TWP Home Insurance, Mcbane Insurance and Financial services, Kiko Meats, K & S Millrights, Gorden Furniture, Minerva Dairy, and Oreillys.
On May 2, the Minerva FFA Alumni announced three scholarship awards of $500 a piece. The scholarship recipients were Alexa Bates, Elizabeth Berstler, and Taylor Zwick. The Minerva FFA Alumni raises money to give back to the Minerva FFA students through various fundraisers.
Throughout this summer, the Minerva FFA Alumni plans to have a float and a booth at the Minerva homecoming. At the booth, they will sell 50/50 tickets and tickets to obtain a free chicken BBQ meal Saturday night at the Minerva Homecoming. Also, the Minerva FFA Alumni plans to sell sweet corn later in the summer with a date yet to be determined.
